woman runs a long road on a search for finding peace

I remember years ago I was on safari in Botswana. A truly life-changing experience. As we drove through some of the towns, I remembered being genuinely surprised at the joy that I saw in the children on the street & the laughter that came from the groups of people gathered together along the side of the road. I thought – from my very narrow-minded first world point of view – how could they be so happy in these conditions?

At dinners we had the chance to chat with some of the locals & they always seemed to be so much more in peace than I was. I spent a lot of time thinking: what am I missing? why are they so happy with so little? Fortunately time, life, & experience brought me clarity about,  what I was really missing. This is the message that I have for the week.

There may have been some hurricane blow through your life causing you to start from scratch on something, or you’ve dusted off an old project, old friend, old relationship & you’re feeling anxious about the time you lost. Perhaps where you want to be, or where you think you should be, is a long ways away from where you are, and you’re not finding peace. You can be nitpicking through what should have/could have been done & how far away “success” feels now.

I’d like to invite you to be very careful & very conscious about your perspective on the situations you’re trying to manifest. There needs to be a very healthy balance around ambitions & expectations.

As we’ve seen in many of my articles, most of life is not what happens to you but how you view, react, and respond to it. You can be busy judging everything that is missing from the situation, or you could be the kids dancing in the street.

There is a sense of anxiety around what we feel we’re not achieving. A sense of time wasted. It is this pressure of the expectation of our ambitions that is currently causing the anxiety. You don’t have to lose the ambition…just the anxiety.

If you are confused on what to do, try one option at a time. If you are dead focussed on being at a certain place, in a certain time, with a certain person…mix up your options. If you’re procrastinating, just do any piece. If you MUST have that *one* thing, purposely have something else.

What you think is missing is all in your mind. What if everything was exactly the way it is supposed to be? What if you’ll get there when the time is right? What if it’s not the right road for you? Why not spend your precious time enjoying the laughter by the side of the road, as opposed to disdain for what is not?Don’t wait til you get to where you think you’re supposed to be to enjoy your life. It may never happen.
